LUNAR CALENDAR: New Moon and Full Moon Fire Ceremonies
Marking the Lunar cycle
As part of our Medicine Wheel training, we celebrate the Moon cycles.
As well as being a celebration of the wisdom of Grandmother Moon, we take this opportunity to do our personal healing work, and to grow our relationship with the archetypical allies that we work with.
As such, this is of course an opportunity to come into Ayni, right relationship with self, others and with the world around us.
Holding Lunar fire ceremonies for ourselves
Part of our Medicine Wheel & Healing Tools shamanic practitioner training involves learning how to hold a fire ceremony.
We hold a fire ceremony on each New and Full Moon to grow our relationship with our allies and with the lineage; fire ceremonies are part of our personal healing journey; and they help us to grow our relationship with the element of fire – the lineage is known a the path of fire. Doing our own personal healing work first and foremost is a fundamental principle of this training. If this is our first time around the Wheel, we hold these fires alone.

Holding Lunar fire ceremonies for others
After the North class, we are able to hold fire ceremonies for others as well as ourselves.
To begin with, this might be for friends and family. It’s a beautiful thing to share these experiences with those we love – and it also helps us to grow our confidence to hold fires for our wider community.
We consider fire to be a great teacher: fire can be sweet and beautiful, or it can be challenging! When we are in Ayni, fire works with us in a beautiful way, and it is this kind of relationship that we are tending.
Joining a fire ceremony
There are a few ways to join us. Some of our Recommended Practitioners offer in-person fire ceremonies (this new website page is coming soon); sometimes we have fire ceremonies held for us (such as when Don Pascual takes a Despacho up to Ausangate mountain after a ceremony – the HEART OF THE SHAMAN page has the details); and sometimes we teach a class in our Heart of the Shaman series on how to hold a simple fire ceremony for yourself. Check out the class schedule for more details.
